The News Apps team has been a pillar of NPR’s digital expression for most of the last decade, with a talented roster and alumni network of graphic designers, software developers, data analysts, illustrators, cartographers, and visually minded reporter/editors who have helped define what NPR should look and feel like on the Internet. Our work includes enterprise projects like the White Lies visual narrative and the experimental Joy Generator, large-scale data projects like the 2020 election results and the Book Concierge, and graphics-driven efforts like our coronavirus trackers.
We’re looking for a civic-minded graphics editor to join our team for a 6-month contract, working on information graphics, data visualizations and special story presentations. This job is remote, working from anywhere in the United States.
Members of our team wear many hats — designer, reporter, data wrangler, developer, cartographer, etc. We work closely with various journalists and storytelling units around the NPR organization, including photographers and video journalists, beat reporters and show producers, copy editors, digital editors and engagement editors. And we have a mission: to help our broad national audience better understand the world around them.
